Paint Creek to Hot Springs Bike Route
(25 mile Round Trip)
This is such a beautiful route, and since it ends in the quaint town of Hot Springs NC, there are several places to stop in the middle of the ride for a brew and something to eat before the ride back.
The uphill portion can certainly be a challenge because
it is most all uphill when heading from the River Road/French Broad area to the Park Entrance/Campground end!
Keep this in mind,
Park and eat accordingly!!!
A full belly when you ave to ride uphill for over 5 miles is not always too fun!!
This IS BEAR COUNTRY!
BE BEAR AWARE!
Stay alert, do not pack food in your pack or bike unless in approved containers,
and give them plenty of space, you are a guest in their home here!!!
This can be a great ride even at night and especially on full moons!
Bring flashlights, headlamps and wear bright reflective clothing and have good bike lighting!!!
The dirt and gravel portion of the road can be impassible and very rutted after heavy flooding rains, and in dry or summer weather you may want to have a bandana, or face mask and glasses for your nose and mouth to protect your from the dust of passing cars, and or gnats!!
Be aware of flash flooding potential.
Although this area is nice, shady and cool in the summer hot months,
this area can be quite cold in cooler months.
Weather changes can occur rapidly and without much warning.
As there are many places to park along the way, alterations to shorten or alter the trip can be made by using shuttle cars or changing starting parking locations.
