HYBRID CYCLING
Hybrid Cycling includes both paved road cycling and some non-paved off road cycling on gravel and or generally harder packed paths, such as gravel roads and bike trails such as the Virginia Creeper Trail. Hybrid Cycling requires a bicycle that can be used both on paved roads and off road, but does not require the seriousness of a "mountain bike"
This Category DOES NOT INCLUDE MOUNTAIN BIKE OFF ROADING!
Please see our Mountain Biking Section for that type of off roading!

HYBRID CYCLING ROUTES
As with most all club cycling, they are leaderless show and go. If you are unsure contact an officer of the club (we currently do not have anyone in the position of Vice President and or Cycling Coordinator) but can get you in touch with someone who rides, and/or plan to ride with a group. These routes often go off the beaten path, and or extend into the night hours after dark. They can be more prone to popping tires, and rapid unexpected in-climate weather changes. Many of these areas DO NOT HAVE CELLULAR SIGNALS!!!  As a result of the nature of our regional terrain, they often include a variety of flatland, inclines and declines, that can at times be quite steep.  Be Prepared. Know you ability. Have the proper equipment. Know your route. Stay alert. Have spare equipment, batteries, tires, patches, tools, head and tail lights, reflectors and safety devices. Prepare for weather changes. Have emergency contacts, and leave a bike plan for someone not coming with you, in case you get stuck somewhere and/or lose contact, need a pick up or get injured.

You are responsible for your own safety, stay alert and aware, safety equipment, high visibility, reflective clothing and lighting and knowledge/understanding of roadway safety and laws are required. If you are riding as part of the club YOU MUST SIGN AND HAVE RECEIPT OF, BY A CLUB OFFICER OR APPROVED DESIGNEE,  A WAIVER/HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT PRIOR TO PARTICIPATION!
